![]() ![]() They have freedom in how they’re going to ‘deal with’ them, but there is enough structure for the chronicle to actually work (yes, it’s possible for the characters to just leave London at the first chance, but that really just means there are bad players in the group who don’t understand that one of their jobs is to make interesting choices). Fall of London handles this issue by coming up with circumstances where the characters almost certainly will take certain general courses of action – they have to find four ancient artifacts, there are four specific vampires who have those artifacts, and the characters are going to have to go deal with those vampires in order to complete their mission. A Vampire writer usually doesn’t have that luxury, but a lot of early chronicle books just assumed that the characters were going to decide to do exactly what the chronicle needed them to do, in exactly the way the chronicle needed them to do it – even if such a course of action was highly unlikely. This is fairly easy for something like Dungeons & Dragons – it really is overwhelmingly likely that, when presented with an assignment to go help those people or explore that area, the PCs will just go do it, and fight anything hostile. Writing an adventure/chronicle almost inherently requires some assumptions about what the characters are going to do, or it gets blown up. Vampire is a game that tends to have story that’s a lot more fluid. Historically, a lot of Vampire chronicle books have been a bit shaky, because they’re hard to get right. The Second Inquisition is around and is a problem for the vampires in the chronicle, but the chronicle is very much focused on Mithras. Fall of London is set in 2012, and the pitch for the chronicle also talks about how the story will explore the events that led to the fall. In canon, London today is a wasteland for vampires, the Second Inquisition having mostly wiped them out. Online modes and leaderboards are worthless, only silly Rally Cross races against humans, who no doubt cheat as there's no non-collision options, and no downloadable car set ups or user ghosts to time attack. The fake rally season mode only has 6, yes SIX, events! It all seems pointless. There's no time attack mode, no ghost cars, no real way to test set ups, there's no official World Rally Championship licence - which is very n i g g a r d l y considering how low budget WRC has gone, so they could've bought it cheaply. Rally Cross has unfair AI at top level, where the AI cars drive flat out even when sideways and are solid when shunted, but easily smash you off the track when you're winning. Dirt Rally was, almost certainly, not even tested on a console gamepad, as it's virtually unplayable - but the game is far too minimal to be worth buying an entry level wheel and pedals for (>£150!). There's enough different cars, but each class has one outstanding car which renders the others pointless. The RWD handling on dirt and gravel is far too sensitive, meaning you have to drive too slowly or retry countless times till you learn the stage. I'm strongly advising all beginners to visit Tutorial section, starting with the part called Mindset. Yes, there was some minor car tuning (gear ration, brake balance and no suspension tricks). I completed 1/6 of first open championship while speaking on the phone on 2nd position with several restarts, but without knowledge of the tracks using Alpine A110 on XB1 controller, only adjusting saturation and sensitivity. Is this a hard game? No, if you know the basics and ready to learn from your mistakes, but It's unforgiving by today standards. You will be correcting your trajectory constantly and that's perfectly normal. It's easily playable on controller with minor adjustments, but keep in mind that the way you drive in rally games is far different than you drive traditional track racing games. One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need a steering wheel to enjoy the game: you don't. What you need to know: there is no rewind, there is no pay to win, VIP status or style points. My advice is to try the game before you'll buy it or get it on sale like I did. ![]() If you're an absolute beginner, proceed with caution. ![]() And the more you know about rallying, the easier it will be for you. ![]() Of course you don't need to be a rally pilot IRL to play and enjoy this game, but there is a learning curve. I'm also a rally fan and ex-junior league pilot IRL, so I won't complain that car is not going straight with full throttle on gravel. I grew up on Colin McRae series and, my first game was 2.0 and my last game was 2005 because of the direction Codemasters went with their future games, drifting away from the concept of classical rally. Your mail server (or that of your provider) should check this and use it as part of a spam checking process, but many don't. Microsoft signs messages with DKIM headers these can also be used to determine validity. In cases like this (DSN, bounce notification, etc), I look at the chain of relays in the headers to make sure that the 'postmaster' really is the postmaster at the domain the message claims to be from. You need to examine the mail headers to determine whether the message really originates from servers authorized to send on behalf of the address in your MTA's visible 'From' field. As takumi said, use plain text if it's available in your MTA, and disable previews and image loading. Any images downloaded when viewing the message can be used by a spammer/scammer to verify they have sent mail to a working address. What’s most impressive most about The Ecstatic is the instrumentation. After the lukewarm reception to the appreciably ambitious The New Danger and the confusingly half-assed, probably contractually-obligated True Magic, the mighty Mos Def has returned with The Ecstatic, a comeback album that lives up to its title, combining the energy of Black on Both Sides with the experimental quality of The New Danger.
